Hitting a 5 year milestone

June 6th 2023 marked 5 years of me working with Accounting Connections, and what a 5 years it has been!

I’ve learnt so much in my time here, and it really has flown by.

I originally joined ACL on a part-time basis because, to be honest, I wasn’t sure if the accounting industry was going to be my cup of tea.  That being said, it took me a little less than 3 weeks to make the decision to leave my other job and join Accounting Connections on a full-time basis as an administrative assistant.

Since then my love for the job and my team has grown immensely and my role has changed a lot. I have learnt new skills that I will take with me throughout my career with the help and support of everyone at ACL.

In my time here I have:

  • Developed essential bookkeeping skills
  • Gained xero certification
  • Gained xero payroll certification
  • Completed AAT Level 2
  • Obtained a diploma in digital marketing

And of course not forgetting all the new procedures, systems and grant applications I had to learn during the pandemic!

One of the highlights of my career was when I was unexpectedly nominated for “Rising Star of The Year” at the Accounting Excellence Awards in 2021.  As if being nominated wasn’t fantastic enough, I actually made the finalists list!  It was a really overwhelming experience, but it felt good to know that my hard work was being recognised not only in ACL, but within the accounting industry too.

The most important thing I’ve learnt here at ACL is how much I love people and giving back, which is exactly what this company stands for and why I’m proud to be a part of it.

My role here now revolves around helping people, and I love nothing more than making someone’s life easier, whether that is by helping with their bookkeeping, running their payroll, training them in Xero or helping educate them through the use of our social media channels.

Along with the rest of the ACL team, I am also lucky enough to be actively involved in volunteering in our local community through our association with Medway Sunlight Rotary and the Medway Foodbank.  I got to be part of a fundraiser event we held for Medway Foodbank on our 5th birthday, raising over £3,000 for the cause.

I’m not sure what the next 5 years at Accounting Connections holds for me, but I have no doubt that it will be a fantastic 5 years, full of growth, fun and most importantly self-development.
